How to Get Rid of Acne

If someone could discover a miracle cure for acne, that person would be financially set for life! Unfortunately, as of right now, no such thing exists. Teenagers are especially prone to this condition because their hormones are raging, but believe it or not, older folks also get those unsightly blemishes. It is possible to get rid of acne, but remember, it’s something that can flare up again at any time.

Washing the affected area with a mild soap and warm water is the safest way to get rid of acne. Remember that the skin, especially on the face, is delicate and can easily be damaged (even permanently) by harsh products, scrub brushes and worse yet, poking fingers. If you want to use something in addition to or even instead of soap, try benzoyl peroxide. It’s available over-the-counter and used 1-2 times a day, it’ll help break apart the oil, bacteria and those dead skin cells that clog up your pores.

People typically only treat areas that have already erupted with acne blemishes, but it makes sense to treat the other areas of your body that are prone to outbreaks such as the back, chest and shoulders. Doing so won’t take much extra time. Another thing that makes sense if you’re prone to acne is to steer clear of products that are oil-based and instead choose those that are water-based. Oily cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreens, and even hair care products just make matters worse.

Don’t get fooled into thinking that prescription medication and other expensive treatments and facials will be any better at getting rid of acne because oftentimes, they won’t. Some, especially prescription treatments, may even create harmful side effects that offset any benefits. Skin naturally produces oil and too much treatment can lead to excessive drying and irritation. Keeping your face clean and your oily hands away will go a long way towards effectively dealing with acne.
