What exactly is a perfect facial? Ask 10 women and you’ll likely get 10 different answers to this question. That’s because what is considered “perfect” is subjective. Some might prefer to be treated at an exclusive salon while others might think the perfect facial is one they do themselves. Some believe the perfect facial uses only organic products while others prefer that name-brand product lines only be used.

One thing that probably everyone agrees on is that the perfect facial will leave your skin feeling refreshed. The skin should also glow afterwards. It shouldn’t glow red like a stop light, though. It should instead have a healthy, youthful appearance.

If you’re a first-timer looking for that perfect facial, spend some time talking to others. Find out where they go for their facials. Ask if they are happy with the results they get. Also ask if they know of any places to avoid. If the people you ask are do-it-yourselfers find out the steps they take and the products they use.

The perfect facial should at a minimum include these important steps. First, there should be some discussion about the characteristics of your face including your skin type, your regular skin care routine, and the products currently being used. That way either you or the technician can be assured of proceeding properly. Next the face should be thoroughly cleansed to remove make-up and oil/dirt.

Next, gently exfoliate with a facial scrub to remove dead skin cells. Afterwards, rinse with warm water.
